Bethel’s History

In 1921, a small group of African Americans who had been affiliated with Methodist Episcopal
churches in the south held several meetings in their homes after moving to Flint, Michigan.
Their purpose was to canvas the black community for propspective members, and find a
location to establish the first such congregation of this denomination north of Pontiac.

We Believe…

• The Bible is the inspired Word of God.

• Our God is One, but manifested in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

• Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world.
